Mark Bowen, OD
Dr. Mark Bowen received his Bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, with honors as a Magna cum Laude graduate, in 1983. He started practicing, serving in the US Army from 1983 to 1987, at the Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, being distinguished with the Army Achievement Medal in 1987, and the Army Commendation Medal in 1991. In 1987, he established Dr. Bowen's Eye Clinic in Jena, LA. He is very active in the optometric field and is a member of the Louisiana State Association of Optometrist, the American Optometric Association, and the Armed Forces Optometric Society. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves and serves with the 7232nd USA Support Unit in New Orleans. His numerous activities in the community include membership and past president of The Kiwanis Club of Jena, Adjutant of the local American Legion post, and member of Nolley Methodist Church in Jena.
